The project examines the ancient earthen qalas — defensive fortresses of Karakalpakstan dating to the Khorezm civilization — through collaboration among architects, artisans, and students at Ajou University in Tashkent, exploring the material history and contemporary potential of brick and clay construction, presented as installation, film, scale model, and photography.
