- Abstract
- Publication of DAVRA, a research collective of artists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, founded by Saodat Ismailova and initiated through her participation in documenta fifteen (Kassel, 2022). Presents research on chilltans — shapeshifting sacred spirits rooted in syncretic shamanic, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, and Islamic belief — through academic texts, prose, poetry, photographs, illustrations, and collages. Organized so that each page corresponds to one of the collective's participants or invited guests, the publication accompanied a 41-day public program of ritual gatherings, music, clay sculpture, and film at the Fridericianum.
