Abstract
Mid-career retrospective of Yelena and Viktor Vorobyev, curated by Viktor Misiano, centered on the artists' eponymous 1996 installation — a bed with a sleeping mannequin accompanied by a Russian-language manifesto — using the figure of the perpetually sleeping artist as a metaphor for creative integrity and nonconformity. The catalog spans the duo's practice across installation, photography, and text-based work from the 1990s through the 2010s, exploring post-Soviet identity, consumer culture, and social transformation in Kazakhstan.
